I have built 3 Harleys but never a chopper. So running into a couple small problems ,One is the rear brake bracket...I have it mounted to the axel...but the other end of the mount has a slot in it......do i need to weld a piece of steel on the inside of the swing arm (lke a keeper) so the slot on the bake mount will slide on to ?

I am not sure which bracket you have but if you go to jpcycles.com, part number 330-420, is what I have on my chopper. If you are talking about the back piece were the slot is in the bracket, then yes you will have to weld a piece of metal to the frame. This is what holds it in place so it will not be moving around. chopperman

Another cheap way of doing this is to just get a chrome frame clamp - like the kind you use for passenger pegs or something like that, put it about a foot down the swingarm from the rear axle, then run a bar from the bottom of the brake holder to your frame clamp (you might have to drill some holes here and there) but you won't have to weld anything if your frame is already coated. Here's a picture of my latest swingarm brake rig, hope you enjoy!
