It looks much better and allows you to change gears easily, but it's dirtier and noisier that a belt.

what year and model bike do you have?

god meant for chains to run harleys. belts are for chicks and fat guys.

jmho.

with that said: a belt requires no maintenance. no lube. they break and you're done.

chain: needs lube and a little maintenance. but, if it ever breaks you can fix it roadside if you are prepared. you can run a wider tire with a chain too as it's more narrow than a belt.

belts do not belong on any bike older than 20 years that's for sure. just my opinion.

I have no say on my build is to guide the old with new.
I cannot say for sure about the shifting being harder on a belt than steel. Hammer a shift, I would think the rubber is a cush-drive. Hammer a chain and it is metal on metal, hard tail shifting.

If you cannot pull the shift out of gear to N in one click, then I think that is your complaint is that the plates never broke loose is why your foot has arm pump finding N.

Sans the flat pressure plate to eliminate that plush drive no matter what final belt/chain you use, is that both shift the same if you time your engine to wheel.

I am going with toph on this one. OK, short of his last sentence. He's closed minded and you can't deal with me is the same way. I wish I could run a belt but someone trumped my call...

So, is it worth the time and money? Like, toph said; you need to see if you can run in the cheap seats is if your bike is belted, then all you need is maybe a belt but measure the teeth anyway.

Now, you are looking at a; parts for parts replacement window. Who lasts longer? Who breaks less? I would say these are my two main questions?

Say you 3 piece a fr/rr/belt to a fr/rr spro/chain> Who beats the wallet game. Again, do you pay for durability and pay extra. Or do you go high maintain my chain with lube, more adjust, clean clothes more for grease peppering. She does not want to ride with a can of chain lube on her jeans.

I rather belt the bike. Toph would rather bend his azz over, walk the bike, lube the chain, spot the rug cause the living room is the engine room.

I don't know. You tell me.

hehe- toph would rather not have his belt break in the middle of the desert or cruising along a river 20 miles from the main road.

belts are fine. i'd just rather chain it. the lube issue isn't much anymore with sealed chains and wonder lubes on the market.

pulleys are more cash than sprockets and wear out too.
belts are much more expensive than chains
chains can be had in just about any one horse town in the country
belts usually come from a dealership.
you can cut a chain to make it fit

chains are thinner than belts
sprockets look much cooler than pulleys do

i probably wouldn't spend the cash to change a belt to a chain umless i had a problem with the belt or wanted to run a fatter rear tire.
