Which is better, Pandemonium 88 or S&S's new 93b low compression? The S&S is $1750 more expensive. Thanks.

I wanted to write you back but I almost clicked on "get a new car quote" or "find out about insurance" because CLEARLY when I want to reposnd to a post what I really want to do is get a new car quote. PLEASE, go to the "manage forums" section of your new content management system and unclick the box that says "Add promo text over input boxes" of something like that and get rid of that nonsense because I WANT TO ANSWER THE QUESTION. If I wanted to buy a car what the hell would I be doing here?
Anyway - the Pandemonium 88 (or P88 from here on out) is a RevTech motor wiht a bunch of S&S and other manufacturers stuff bolted on. The P88 and most RevTech products are produced in the Far East - oh, here's an old real biker term you won't find any of the editors using here - they're "Rice" baby. As is rice burners as in *** bikes (this'll probably get this post pulled for being politically incorrect). The S&S motor is made here in the US. Let's see, labor costs in the Far East is about 12 cents a day and a bowl of dim sung and in the US you have to pay some mouth-breather at least 7 bucks an hour to call you up and tell you he can't make it to work because his car got repossessed. (Sorry about the spelling, I normally use Word because I'm lazy). So, 12 cents verses 7 dollars - that's where the difference is. Also, S&S just simply charges a whole lot more thna anybody else - they have brand identity that comes from buying big full-color glossy ads in magazines like Street Chopper and Hot Bike. The RevTech guys generally don't do that, because with them it's all about being able to sell their product cheaper than anybody else. There are some folks (and I know you'll find this insane) who buy purely on price. They think a bolt is a bolt is a bolt. They look at the price and buy the cheaper one. When it snaps at 80 mph, they'll wish they had bought the more expensive one. I love S&S stuff - but the fact is, I can build and entire running panhead BIKE for the price of one of their engines. Would I like one - hell YES! Can I afford one - well, as long as guys like Primedia suddenly discover that they can make money on the web - well, no can do, buckaroo. Ain't got the coin.
The comparison is this: P88 got dem *** parts in it. The S&S doesn't. So, are we having chinese take out for dinner tonight or are we stopping at Mickey D's?

In case you're wondering, there are three asterisks used in the post above. I didn't put them there. I used a VERY common word in the motorcycling community - but being as this is not actually a motorcycle magazine but a content collection and distribution system who's topic happens to be motorcycles - somewhere, someplace, somebody decided the word formed by the first letters of the follwing words "Jim And Paul" wasn't something you could say in their managed content world. Do you folks see what's happening here? You're being politically corrected for your own good. I'd be mad as hell, but frankly, I'm getting old and this stuff is beating me up worse than it used to these days. Somebody else pick up the torch for a while, willya?

I have a "Crapemonium" motor. Bye the S&S. If ya don't know by now Global Motorsports Group (parent company to CCI)went BANKRUPT. CUSTOM CHROME, makers of the Pandemonium, last I heard had been sold to a JAPanees company. My "Crapemonium" motor as well as about 300 that were produced have had to have been REBUILT with only 500 miles on it. I've had mine since Aug 2005 and it been out of the bike as much as its been in it. Almost half a years worth of that was at Motorway Eng in Conneticut. They are doing the warrenty rebuilds on these. On the other hand, S&S has been around building parts since the 70's. Yes they have name recognition, but they also have a very good reputation with the bikers that have been around awhile. KNOWBODY I know built a RevTech(also a Global Motorsports Company) stroker Shovel 25 years ago, but plenty o' S&S's were built back then and many are still running today. Just one mans opinion. Use it however you see fit. 'Foot

if cash were not an issue- s&s all the way. the japanese vs american debate is getting blurred. fwiw- those forks on your harley for the past 40 years have been made in japan. keihin carbs too. and the elctronics, and....
i think you get the point.
i don't own a rev tech motor, but i understand the early problems with the motors were resolved. some manufacturers use rev tech's as a cost saving measure.
that pandemonium motor looks pretty good. std cases and heads- looks like good parts were used.
let us know which way you go.
