I have a 92 sporty. I removed the chain to clean and lube, and found out I need a new chain. The chain has a 50 on it. Is this 50 chain or 530 chain. Thanks for any help! Steve

Hey - Its probably a 530 as that's pretty much the standard HD chain. There are many different choices here - you can go to the dealer and get a bone-stock chain, which might be good depending upon your mechanical ability OR you can buy an aftermarket chain on eBay or someplace like that. Count the links, because you'll need the size AND the number of links. I like sealed o-ring chains because you don't have to oil / spray them down very often. Just cut them to size, crunch down the pins and you're ready to rock. Not as easy as it sounds because if you want to do it right you need a chain cutting and linking kit - runs about $140 and you find them mainly at "John And Paul" (use the first letter of those three words) Shop. It's a wise investment if you're planning on keeping your sporty. The cool thing about aftermarket chains is that they're available in different colors and finishes (oooh! blue chrome!)so there you go - now you know everything about chains that I know. Here's a pic of a bike of mine getting the chain sized for the first time.
