I found a new ,in the crate ,1999 harley d. 1340/80ci motor for a great price.I would like to find out the good, the bad, and the ugly about this type of engine.I just so happen to drive the last production year of the shovelhead so it seems appropriate that I am condidering the last year of the evo as my next purchase.Any info is appreciated.

the good: reliable, easy to modify, efficient. really can't think of many cons to the evo motor. the only issue for me would be power but is very cheap and easy to mod these motors. one cam, no extraneous chains or tensioners, heads that flow better than a twin cams. i say much more of an evolution of the shovel than the twin cam is to the evo.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I can't go wrong with my choice. I'm planning on a cam upgrade, (the andrews "A" grind did wonders for my shovel)S&S Super"E",and Vance and Hines or Supertrapp exhaust.Suggestions welcomed.

Jump on that EVO or let me know if you want to middleman that and make a slight profit for your head hunting is PM me. Just kidding. But look how easy that is to rebuild. OEM out the door is cheap. I mean, cheap!
You have to whatever revamp the wait time is say, S&S or Ultima engine parts are said price. Say we match part for part and I think the OEM is going to be built cheaper with just two parts is pick your part then price both.

You would be the fool not to get that engine if not for parts alone. I hear they want those single cam'd cranks, because they hold up better than, well, you read enough to know what is being plugged into parts is parts if you want a bottom end to last is what are you waiting for.
