Running board install.

I need some help. I am building some running boards for my bobber and I run a 3" open primary. I have some armor plating cut off an old style HUMVEE turret while I was in Iraq. Should be pretty cool when I'm finished.
My problem is trying to figure out where to put the left side board. In front of the belt? Or way to the outside? Naturally the right side has to be the same. I am also re-installing the foot clutch/ Jocky shift, so have to take this into consideration as well.

Any thoughts?

Your physical size, riding posture, and bike community dictates where you have to put the running board.  You sit low enough to extend your leg around the belt drive, the running board forward of it, keeps things on the narrow side.  From the rear, you want the tire looking wider to show.

Our "Local Boy Choppers" like'em low, wide, and sit high to have their running board on the side of the primary.  From the rear, they want the rear tire to look slim and tiny!

Thanks!

yeah, I have long legs and a wide body myself, so to the outside and in front of the primary won't be a problem. I'm wondering about splitting the difference. Maybe even cutting a notch out of the rear corner of the running board and snugging it up close to the primary since I don't want the boards out in front of the bike.

Good idea about the split difference, notching the running board approach.  That sounds like innovation at work.

Only suggestion would be to make a prototype of less precious metal if your chopper sled is up and running.

If not running yet, can use wood or cardboard template!
