Hey ElkCreek!  Sweet chopper taking shape! You definitely meet qualifications for "Garage Dog" according to Warren that started this thread!

Hello Nitrox5!
Thanks for the words. Its coming along. Im taking the bottom end to a shop to get it together this week. Im learning alot as I go. During the mock-up, I ran into some issues with the transmission mounts. The 5th mount under the kicker will need shimmed. Also the front left mount hole in the trannie plate will have to be welded shut and redrilled  as its off a bit. I noticed that the clutch arm was hitting the oiltank mount plate also. It finally occured to me (Duh!)that the 1976FX which the frame is, was set up from the factory for a non-adjustable trannie plate as it had the alum inner and outter primary and primary chain tensioner inside the inner primary to adjust the primary chain. The adjustable trannie plate is actually twice as thick as the factory 1976FX tranniplate. Thats why I need to shim the 5th mount boss, and why the clutch arm is hitting the oiltank mount plate. It will when using a hardtailed 1976frame with a 36-57 rigid frame style oil tank and oiltank mount plate. The early pre-electraglide panheads cam out factory with an adjustable trannie plate, as adjustment of the primary chain was done by sliding the transmission ahead or back and them adjusting the rear wheel as needed per the trans location after primary chain adjust. Of ALL the forums and discussions Ive read regarding the Santee weldon hardtail, I never heard any discussion about these issues. I bought a oiltank mount plate that I cant use unless I cut it up. Rather than cut it up, Ill build my own and have it chromed where I work. This will give me about an inch more clearance for my clutch arm, as well as allow me to mount the rear of the oiltank under the top cross tube of the frame,as I will be using a radius'ed rear fender and setting it close to the tire. This will allow for a cleaner look in that area also.
The motor is a 1948 right side case and the left case is a NOS aftermarket Case by CPC who I guess went out of buisiness in the 70's? The number boss has never been stamped. The left case will work for late Knuckleheads and early Pans. So it might be considered a Knuckle/Pan bottom end? Im using an OLD set of S&S 4 1/2" stroker wheels,(Per S&S via the numbers on the wheels)When its done it should be in the area of 88c1.
Ill post more pics as I go forward.

Hello ElkCreek!

What became of the mounting plate?  Did you modify it or make your own!

By now, I would have used it for a template and fashioned my own mounting plate out of stainless steel or Ti plated.  I would then have added additional tabs/brackets/notches of other needed accessories!

hey ya all, good day to be building. my current build is based on a paugho rigid frame; 124 ss evo, jims 5spd. i have reached the point of wiring up this ride and  am thinking of using a spyke dual fire electronic in the cone ign with 2 dyna 3ohm coils. can this be accomplished? money is an issue right now or i would use a crane hi 4, but the spyke is a freebee. any ideas on how to wire the coils any info wol
uld be cool:

I'm just the assembler. This is my nephews look in his mind. He also, "Rattle Can'd" the gas tank. This is the nephews idea of old school tank design and did that all on his own with spray cans. Looks like he pealed the tank off of an old chopper magazine cover and glued it on the tank; but it is for real all from spraying over a circle he used over and over to get the fish scale effect.

Now that we have the bike back from the metal fabricator, we are at the final stages as in, "Wire & Fire" the bike off. Then strip it all down for paint and chroming. Then reassemble the bike one more time.

is it OK that I built mine in the bar at the house instead of the garage? not sure how to post pics here, but their posted in readers rides under "iron chop" started out as a total basket almost 3 years ago, only help I've gotten was the paint, and some minor tech help, don't have the funds to send parts out for polishing  etc, like the big boys do, but I can take pride that I did it all myself

I went from a belt to chain, I converted 1991 FLH into a trike,  using a 1947 servi-car rear,  made my own swing arm, flip the rear, and used a laser frm sprocket to sprocket to get my off set. You'll get the idea.  Good luck!
