Maintenance Time!

We have been riding the old girl pretty hard and an oil change is needed badly. We hooked up some Texas tea from the fine folks at Redline and also grabbed a few items at our local Harley dealer to make the job an easy one.

We started by draining the old oil from the Dyna's Transmission.

We picked up a funnel and drain pan set form H-D. this will make the job much easier and cleaner.

We also got the H-D oil filter removal tool from the dealership to aid in the removal of the stock filter.

as you can see the plastic drain pan keep oil from getting everywhere when the filter is removed. It's just so friggin handy!

here's the oil kit we received from Redline. It does one whole bike (Tranny, Primary, Engine Oil, and Gas treatment) all in one hand box.

We also upgraded to an oil filter from Scotts Performance. The filter is made from laser cut, medical grade, 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth, that provides 200-percent more filter area than the stock filter. Most good paper filters will pass particles in the 90 to 95 micron range, and some tested, as much as 300 microns. Sand is about 125 microns and a white blood cell approximately 25 microns. The Scotts stainless filter catches items down to 35 microns.

Scotts also supplies a tool along with the filter.

We pre-filled the Scotts filter then installed it on the bike.

We then checked the drain plug for any debris and reinstalled it.

We filled the bike back up with Redline and we were donezo!
