Direct to garage to chop fenders, seat, exhaust and misc stuff which were not needed.

Solo seat
Bolted piece of steel to frame and mounted solo seat

Rear fender / night rider led light
Installed tractor supply fender with custom dynamics led night rider sequential lights mounted under fender.

Chopped stock exhaust
Chopped last chamber of stock exhaust sanded chrome a bit and shot with hi temp black spray paint

Floor boards
Removed floor boards and installed  Kuryakyn foot pegs

Carb’s
Installed KJS single carb , once single carb is installed you will remove a bunch of junk from the bike (see pic), the KJS carb conversion is the way to go cost $ 630 bucks, If you know your way around carbs you can re-jet the Mikuni HS40 carb, mount a tps bracket and fabricate a manifold or buy one from Uptown customs http://www.wix.com/sickboy1021/uptown-customs.net $135

Air intake
Once single carb is installed you need to install a new air intake which was a bit tricky.
Any way when i went to mount my air cleaner to the HS40 carb i could not find any carb adapters so i fabricated up some out of 16 gauge sheet metal...attach to carb throat with hose clamp...then line up mounting holes on the air filter with adapter holes and shazam...

then i slip on a piece of 1 1/2 inch (rubber) coupling
(from home depot) onto the carb throat then seal up with ULTRA BLACK RTV SILICONE GASKET MAKER...

Gas tank
Gas tank (only way to change stock gas tank is to do away with stock huge air intake box)
Got a 2.2 gallon Paughco Mustang Frisco style gas tank and tigged brass fittings for clear hose fuel sight gauge, then tigged a petcock frisco style for max gas usage.
Had to fabricate bracket then bolted to 2 existing holes in frame.

AIS
This was very easy,  look for the tubing which attaches to the engine and just detach it from the little nipple tube go to auto parts store and get rubber plug cap and slip over nipple then just pull off all the AIS crap…here is a good post  http://ziariderblog.com/2009/10/v-star-650-ais-removal/

Result… I am very happy with bike runs stronger, sounds much better and looks SWEET…

Did you trick the inside of that exhaust because I have always been worried about buildup & my exhaust failing to escape. Someone wiser than me once said that I would need to speed it all along or suffer congregation issues. I always thought those big pipes were cooler than anything but always shied away. Maybe they meant just what I thought they meant...some kind of rifling...?
